Hello students and families!  Welcome to Kindergarten!

My name is Kelly Derr and I will be your child's Kindergarten teacher this year.  I have been teaching since 2005 and being an educator is truly what I am called to do.  I obtained my Bachelor of Science dual Degree from Slippery Rock University in both Elementary Education and Special Education.  Then, I earned my Master of Education Degree in Special Education, with a focus on Autism Spectrum Disorders, from the University of Nevada Las Vegas.  I had an opportunity to teach out West for four years and then made my way back to Pennsylvania and to my alma mater at Southmoreland where I have been for the past 13 years.

I am married to my amazing husband named Robert and we have been blessed with three beautiful children- Josie (7), Norah (6) and Hudson (3).  Our family enjoys spending time outdoors doing things such as hiking, camping and traveling.  I relax by doing yoga and listening to music and enjoy a good chai tea latte in the morning.  I love plants and gardening and growing things makes me happy.

I am very passionate about teaching little ones and love watching them learn and grow.  I am looking forward to getting to know you and your child this school year.  We are going to have a fantastic year!
